Using Brush, Pencil And Color Replacement Tool

In this tutorial we are going to discuss about the painting tools in photoshop. These tools are the basic ones, so there is nothing too much to talk about, so this tutorial will be a small tutorial. Now, lets get started.

Brush Tool (Shortcut Key – B)

Brush tool is a tools that is used for painting or coloring an image. Using this tools is very simple. First select the Brush tool, it’s located below the Healing Brush Tool, or use shortcut key (B) to select the brush tool.
Now select the color that you want to paint, and then choose the brush’s tip size. And also you can adjust the opacity of the color and also you can adjust the flow of color in brush. When you are satified with the setting, just come to the image, click and hold and start painting over the image.

Pencil Tool (Shortcut Key – B)

This is almost the same as brush tool, the only difference between a brush tool and a pencil tool is the brush tip of pencil tool can’t be soften, whereas in brush tool it can be done.
To use the pencil tool, just select the pencil tool, it’s found nested with brush tool. Now select the brush size, blending mode, and Opacity, when you are done with the setting, just click and hold and start painting. It’s almost the same.

Using Auto Erase

Auto Erase is another option available for pencil tool. If you have a tick for Auto-Erase then the pencil tool is going to draw the background color over the foreground color. It’s something like erasing. Then you have your image filled with background color, then it’s going to paint using the foreground color.

Color Replacement Tool

This allows you to replace any color on a picture with out losing any detail.
Now Choose a color. This will be the color that will be used for replacment. Next choose the Mode. Next just paint over the surface that you want to replace colors of. Make sure that the plus sign of the tool remains inside the area you want to change. If they go out of the surface then you will end up coloring the wrong thing.

Menu Bar Options

Mode

This tells the Painting Mode. Your options are Hue, Color, Luminosity, and Saturation etc.

Sampling

This tell where you get your sample to replace from. If you choose continuous it will replace what ever you are dragging on. If you choose once it will only replacee the color you first clicked on. If you choose background swatch it will only change where ever the color is the same as your selected background color.

Limits

This tells where your color stops replacing the other color. We choose contiguous meaning that it will not go beyond where the color is different.

Tolerance

This is how much shade difference of the color you are changing it will tolerate

Anti-Aliasing

This helps you to acquire a smooth edges.
